Wind Whispers Briar Rose
Owner/Handler - Carolyn Miller
Dar X McKenzie 2022 - Update: Briar Rose completed the 2022 season with two NADAC Agility titles! We are so proud of her accomplishments!
We are so proud for Carolyn Miller and Briar Rose in Canada who did their first Agility trial yesterday. Carolyn wrote this about Briar Rose: "Briar Rose (McKenziexDar 2020) and I went to our first agility trial on Sunday. We both had a blast! Briar had 2 qualifying rounds in Intro and was very close on two more. She received 1st in 6 of the runs and second on one run. So many people commented on her speed and admired her. 20 points earned towards her first title. Thanks Suzi Norton Newman for breeding such amazing collies. We are both looking forward to more trials this summer." |

Wind Whispers River Delta RATI RATN RATO TDN TDROM

Owner/Handler - Alicia Encoyand

5/4/2023 Update: River has earned her TDROM, or, Trick Dog Register Of Merit through Do More With Your Dog. The TDROM is a title given to a dog who’s offspring have earned a combined total of 10 or more of the core trick titles (novice, intermediate, advanced, expert, champion, or masters in any of these.). Currently, 6 of River’s puppies have earned one of these titles, including Luna who’s currently at the most advanced level of all the puppies at expert level. I personally found the DMWYD trick titles far harder than AKC trick titles. I’m super proud of this accomplishment. It helps show how biddable and smart her puppies are.

2020 - Wind Whispers River Delta is multi-talented dog. She earned her RATI, RATN and RATO titles in Barn Hunt in just three short weekends. In February 2020 she’s headed to the Regional Grand National Barn Hunt in Lodi, California. She’s also been shown in conformation and in Jr. Showmanship. She’s also fantastic around small livestock and shows great promise and natural instinct to herd. Handled both by Alicia Encoyand and her daughter Ashby, River has done exceptional in her short career. We’re excited for the future with this special girl.
Newman's Moons over My Hammy
Owner/Handler Dani Perry
Sierra X Tesla
Where to start with this guy... hes one of the kids! We've had him for almost 3 years and it's been a very fun and entertaining 3 years to say the least. From the minute we brought him home hes been our kids best friend. Every night it's the same story... telling hammy and charlotte to calm down and quit running because they have to play their daily game of tag. Hes a big giant baby who is terrified of the tiny 8 lb cat, still. He's his new human brothers guard dog and you can almost always find him within feet of the baby. And oh my goodness is he gentle. He licks the baby's toes and gives him soft kisses on his nose. When we put the baby in his walker he always seeks hammy! I can not wait to see them this summer! Hammy hasn't been formally trained for any specific task but having a mom with anxiety and post partum depression, his biggest boy has adhd, Charlotte needs constant attention, and a brand new baby to guard.. I feel like hes naturally become our therapy dog and protector. We sure love our hammy bone hes definitely our treasure.

Newman’s Rockin’ The Quintessential Trend
Owner/ Handler Kimberly Low
Tesla X Trendy
Newman’s Rockin’ The Quintessential Trend (Call Name:Quinn) is a gorgeous and quirky boy that has enhanced my life since he flew to my home in Anchorage, AK in 2017. I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer with the CCPDT, an Association of Professional Dog Trainers, and an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. I was looking for a dog with moderate drive for getting into Rally Obedience, and possibly therapy work. I also knew I needed a dog that had the adaptability to stay home and have a Netflix day when my kids are sick, etc… without getting neurotic. Quinn has fit the bill beautifully. While no dog as an individual is perfect and has their quirks (he can be a real jerk about brushing his butt fluff and tummy and can be over zealous in his window watching/barking)… he reminds me that we all have quirks. No one is perfect, and we have to meet individuals where they are at. He has been my clown, my calm buddy…. my personal trainer (although a personal trainer has NOTHING on this kid when he KNOWS it is his walkie time and I’m being lazy). As a military family, we have had 2 moves in 2 years and he has handled them both beautifully. Our most recent has found us right next door to another Collie!!! They have a bromance. He has accompanied me on a road trip with my two kids and was a saint. He has pressed himself into me when I have awoken at night with anxiety. He walks and/or runs with me nearly daily. I am a stay at home mom first, and he is a wonderful companion daily. Recently, he earned his Canine Good Citizen title and will be attending a Rally Obedience clinic in January. Our first Show & Go will be in March and I hope I don’t screw it up…. Because we all know it is almost always handler error. . I think I was most proud of the fact that in attending a Canine Good Citizen class that led to testing, Quinn was only one of a couple of dogs NOT being trained on a prong/choke. He had the most gorgeous and natural heel with focus and JOY. He got it together if I needed to re-direct him. In short, he was a model for the fact that we don’t HAVE to use aversive in training. How we train says much about our patience and how we see animals in general. What a star this quirky, silly, loving, personal space-lacking, love has been!!! |
Newman's Allendar
Dar is my lifesaver.
Does he have any special awards or ribbons? Not at all. Will our doctors and friends rave about what an amazing boy he is? Absolutely. He is the best! The best of the best. I live with a TBI from an accident over 20 years ago. For so many years the loss of balance would just hit me out of no where and I'd have to drop down to floor or find something to grab and hang on to. Dar just knows when these dizzy moments will hit me before I know. He has saved from at least a dozen falls in this last year alone. He is my Medical alert dog. When he knows I'll become dizzy and lose balance, he either noses me in leg or steps in front of me, blocking my path and making me stop. Every time he does this I am so in awe of his ability to know. And grateful. Dar is welcomed anywhere we go, and we are often asked what we drug him with because he is so well behaved. I am proud of him and love him so much. Yes he does sleep in our bed or on the floor of our room. He is never far from me. Dar has sired a few litters here, and will continue to do so as needed occasionally. He is mostly here for me. I love this. He is my knight and shining armor. Thank you to Dar for giving me a full life and being my hero. |
